The Sonic Rainboom itself is quite an impressive display, but I'd imagine that if one was performed at night, it would be the ultimate light show.
Obviously, I decided to try something different for once and draw an image that isn't really a vector. Rainbow's outlines were drawn in Illustrator, and then imported that into SAI to color, shade, and draw the background. It was pretty fun, and I'm much happier with shading in SAI than I am in Illustrator. I think I might be doing more in this style, what does everyone else think?
Adobe Illustrator CS5 (outlines and cutie mark) and Paint Tool SAI (everything else). Roughly 10 hours over three days.
Nice colors used here And Rainbow Dash looks very cool! But if you want to make it look better, you could change RD`s colors for better matching for the background. Something like that. I used layer blending modes: "Multiply" for the shadows and "Screen" for the lighting. Please draw more in this style!
