Meteor Shower

Description

Rainbow Dash decided to take Twilight up to a cloud, so that the nighttime loving unicorn could get a clear view of a beautiful meteor shower.

I've been wanting to do this image forever, and have actually made several rough sketches over the past few months. I just never was able to create a base-sketch that I liked enough to actually vector before now.

Base image drawn using Paint Tool SAI and a Wacom Intous4 Medium tablet. Final vector drawn using Illustrator CS5. MLP:FiM, Rainbow Dash, and Twilight Sparkle belong to Hasbro, art is mine.

Definitely an amazingly regal piece of TwiDash artwork. It's clear that these two are having a great time together, looking up at the night sky as meteors shower across the very sky they admire. The fact that Twilight is the only one up there with her enforces the feeling that she's the only one Rainbow Dash wanted up there, which gets across the feeling of the loving friendship between these two. The moon is out, the stars are shining, and meteors pass by with an "ooh" and "ahh" as one would say at such an event. As always, there's room for improvement. And I can think of only a few ways to improve this, and that would be first to make the moon glow, and illuminate Twilight and Rainbow Dash's faces. Secondly, the sky would've been better off as black, with each star glowing only very slightly. Lastly, just a minor detail, I think maybe a reflection of a couple of meteors in both of their eyes would've added to the admiring and loving feeling they both share. Again, just a few minor things that could improve the way this looks, but all in all, it's a great drawing, and deserves great praise.
